Grandma Life: My Best Practical Advice for You
Grandma Sandy is on vacation, returning Wednesday, August 14. In the meantime, each week, we’ll feature a curated collection of the best of “Call Me Grandma!” In today’s post, we’re highlighting some of our favorite summer arts and crafts projects for kids.
One minute, you’re cradling a swaddled infant. The next minute you’re sitting in the gym clutching a lei, waiting for your grandchild to march in for the elementary school graduation. And you can sense time slipping by. It goes that fast.
Where once the grandkids loved coming over to grandma’s, I can anticipate a time when they’ll have plans with friends. I expect we’ll see less and less of them. Such is the way of the world….
So, today’s post is a roundup of some thoughts and life lessons about being a grandma. Take it as well-meaning advice from one who has experienced this pleasure over 11 years.
Capture Time with Grandkids Now
In this post from last year, I reflect on how quickly the grandkids are growing up and all thing things I did–and the ones I wish I had done–as their grandma.
Making Beautiful: A Talk with my Grandchild
In this post, Miss T, at six, asks why I want to make everything beautiful and perfect. It’s my chance to share with her my values about why creating beauty is so important to me, and giving her an idea of standards she might want to embrace in her own life–or not.
